What to Do in Spring 2022 in Cascais and Lisbon

Days are getting longer, corona seems like a horror story of the past, and you don’t want to wait for the summer to go out and enjoy the city life.
It was precisely with that in mind that we compiled these events taking place in April and May. One way or another, the spring is yours to seize.
Record Padel Challenge

Record Padel Challenge for short (Record Padel Challenge sponsored by Intimissimi Uomo being its full name) is back after a very successful first edition last year. This is a padel competition for everyone. Although the registration costs €40, competitors get €120 worth of prizes (included in the welcome kit) regardless of their performance. Prizes are added to it as they advance in the competition, amounting to a €12.000 prize for the winner (in hotel, Intimissimi Uomo, and equipment vouchers, among others).
The calendar is the following: phase 1 on April 23 at Rackets Pro (at Quinta da Marinha, Cascais), phase 2 on April 30 at Top-padel (at Quinta do Fojo, Vila Nova de Gaia), phase 3 on May 7 at Star Padel (in Coimbra), phase 4 and the masters final — will both be at Rackets Pro (at Estádio Universitário de Lisboa, Lisbon).
Estoril Open

The main racket sport that attracts tourists to the Cascais municipality is definitely the Millennium Estoril Open, which brings some of the best players to Clube Ténis do Estoril. This year, the headliners include Felix Auger-Aliassime, Diego Schwartzman, Cameron Norrie, and Sebastian Korda. You can check out the daily schedule and buy your tickets here.
Should you go, you’ll be witnessing history in the making, as Estoril Open will be using a rare system of refereeing called Foxtenn (informally known as Hawk Eye), that can flawlessly track the ball’s bounce, based on the disposition of a set of ultra high-speed cameras and lasers across the court. This tournament will be the forth ever to use said technology and the first this year.
IndieLisboa

IndieLisboa is a festival that movie lovers in Portugal long for every year. It’s a celebration of independent cinema, the kind that oftentimes doesn’t get to be shown in regular cinemas.
In 2022, it will have the longest national competition of feature-length films it’s ever had: 9 in total. Through a retrospective, it also invites spectators to rediscover Doris Wishman, an American director, screenwriter, and producer most notably known for the abundance of movies she made (perhaps the most prolific female filmmaker in the history of cinema) and her focus on the sexploitation genre.
There is a section entirely dedicated to children revolving around cinema — IndieJunior. In other words, movies, workshops, and creative activities for everyone!
But it’s not all about movies, there will be music too. IndiebyNight manages to bring together underground and mainstream artists in great venues.

I don’t think I have to explain why crossing the 25 de Abril bridge must make an impression like no other experience in Lisbon. You can do that at the Lisbon Half Marathon! And unlike everything else in Lisbon, the course is actually flat.
